100+ delegates attended GST Seminar organized by IPMMA
Indian Pharma Machinery Manufacturers’ Association (IPMMA) recently conducted a Seminar to impart the basic information on implementation of the GST (Goods Service Tax) by the Govt. of India w.e.f. July 1, 2017. The aim was to create awareness about the GST and how much ready we are to understand and incorporate it in our regular practices. The presentation was made by the expert team from Institute of Chartered Accountant of India, Indirect Tax to discuss, guide and answer any technical queries.
About GST:
“Goods and Services Tax” would be a comprehensive Indirect Tax on manufacture, sale and consumption of goods and services throughout India, to replace taxes levied by the central and state governments. Goods and Services Tax would be levied and collected at each stage of sale or purchase of goods or services based on the input tax credit method.This method allows GST-registered businesses to claim input tax credit to the value of GST they paid on purchase of goods or services as part of their normal commercial activity. Exports would be zero-rated and imports would be levied the same taxes as domestic goods and services adhering to the destination principle.

Mr. Vasant K. Bhatis Chartered Accountant, having more than 18 years standing in the profession. He conducted many workshops on various matters relating to Central Excise, Service Tax, MVAT and GST. He was co-opted member of Indirect Tax Committee of ICAI during the year 2012. He co-authored the background material for certificate course on Indirect Taxes, e-book on Point of Taxation, published by ICAI and WIRC Reference Manual for the last 4 years published by WIRC of ICAI. Co-compiler of the background material on Model GST Law published by ICAI for the training of Govt. officers. He is a faculty on Central Excise, Service Tax and GST. He is an independent Director and Chairman of audit committee of a Mumbai based pharmaceutical company.He is heading Mumbai branch of M/s. Hiregange& Associates, Chartered Accountants, Bangalore.
