The first ever technology Seminar organized by IPMMA (Indian Pharma Machinery Manufacturers’ Association) outside India, at Bangladesh, alongside of the 9th ASIA PHARMA EXPO 2017– an international exhibition on COMPLETE pharma manufacturing technologies. Such knowledge sharing forum has started a new trendsetting activity initiated by IPMMA and jointly organized by IPMMA and GPE EXPO PVT. LTD. Excelsior Trading Corporation Ltd., Dhaka based leading Indenting Agency was the PARTNER for the KNOWLEDGE SEMINAR.
Looking to the background and the growth of the Bangladesh pharmaceutical industry are highly remarkable. After the liberation, Bangladesh used to import at least 70% of medicines against the demand. At present, only 3% of the drugs are being imported while remaining 97% being produced from local manufacturers. Bangladesh is on top position among all the LDCs by manufacturing and exporting highest figures in terms of revenue as well quantity. Bangladesh pharmaceutical industry has got the waiver from WTO to continue manufacturing of the patented medicines till Jan-2033, and this has boosted the annual growth to more than 20% for the Bangladesh pharma sector. Such phenomenal growth and pharma formulation manufacturing potential; generates the demand for the high value inputs on manufacturing technologies in existing era of rapidly evolving pharma manufacturing technologies.
The KNOWLEDGE SEMINAR, held on February 23, 2017 during 9th ASIA PHARMA EXPO 2017 at ICCB, Dhaka, Bangladesh remained highly successful in terms of updating the current and future pharma manufacturing practices. Apart from heading the largest most trade association representing more than 300 pharma machinery manufacturers from India, IPMMA received well acclaimed responses among the pharma manufacturing professionals for organizing such interesting and interactive common forum to update, discuss and evolve the novel thoughts within the pharmacy manufacturing community.
The topics presented at the Seminar by 4 Indian speakers – Dr. Sarang Athawale (Akshay Pharma Consultants), Mr. T. Srihari (Director, Phalanx Pharmaceuticals), Mr. G. Seetaraju (Sr. Vice President & SBU Head, GVK Biosciences), Dr. Abhaykumar Chheda (Vice President, Technical, Avik Pharmaceutical Ltd.) and 2 eminent speakers from Bangladesh – Mr. M. Mossadek Hossain (VP – Pharmacy Council of Bangladesh and MD – UniMed & Unihealth Manufacturers Ltd.), Prof. ABM Faroque (Dept. of Pharmaceutical Technology, Faculty of Pharmacy, University of Dhaka, Bangladesh), and were attended by more than 200 pharma professionals.
Bangladesh pharmaceutical industry stalwarts like; Dr. Momenul Haq, MD, General Pharmaceuticals Ltd. and Advisor to Bangladesh Association of Pharmaceutical Industries – BAPI (Bangladesh Aushad Shilpa Samity); Mr. Harunur Rashid – Sr. Vice President of BAPI & CMD of Globe Pharmaceuticals Ltd., Mr. S. M. Shafiuzzaman, Secretary General – BAPI, Mr. Abdul Muktadir, MD – Incepta Pharmaceuticals Ltd. attended the KNOWLEDGE SEMINAR along with the pharma professionals from the Bangladesh pharma fraternity.
All the co-ordination related to the KNOWLEDGE SEMINAR was headed and successfully executed by Mr. Oswin D’souza, Member – Seminar Committee, IPMMA. The KNOWLEDGE SEMINAR was organized alongside the ASIA PHARMA EXPO 2017 (APE 2017) – an international pharma exhibition, which is being organized at Dhaka since year 2003. APE 2017 is the largest most pharma exhibition attracts every single pharma professionals from Bangladesh to attend, explore and network the trade contacts every year.
